Detailed information

Product detailed description

Vaillant fixing clamps Ø 160 mm – pack of 5

Fixing (anchoring) clamps are used for continuous support and stabilisation of the pipework of the Vaillant Ø 110/160 mm flue system on longer horizontal and vertical sections of the run. The pack contains 5 pieces, which, at the recommended anchoring spacing (usually every 1 – 1.5 m according to the installation manual), is sufficient to stabilise a typical section of the run in a plant room, shaft, or along a wall. The clamp is fixed to the building structure (wall, ceiling, steel bracket) and the flue pipe passes freely through it, while the clamp prevents sagging under its own weight as well as excessive stress on the bayonet joints in the direction perpendicular to the pipe axis.

Without a sufficient number of supports, longer horizontal sections (especially when combining several 1.0 m and 2.0 m extensions) would gradually stress the joints through sagging, which can lead to leaks in the system over time. Regular anchoring with clamps is therefore a standard part of every larger installation of this system.

Vaillant Ø 110/160 mm flue gas discharge system

The pipe system with a diameter of Ø 110/160 mm belongs to the family of concentric (coaxial) Vaillant flue systems designed for large-capacity gas condensing boilers with a higher rated output – typically the ecoTEC plus VU 806/5-5, 1006/5-5 and 1206/5-5 range (output range approx. 80 – 120 kW), the modular ecoCRAFT exclusiv and ecoVIT exclusiv assemblies, as well as cascade connections of several boilers to a common flue gas manifold. The inner pipe, through which the flue gases flow, is made of durable polypropylene (PP) with high temperature and chemical resistance to condensate (condensate resistance class W according to EN 14471), while the outer shell supplying combustion air is made of UV-stabilised plastic or aluminium depending on the specific part. The system is certified for temperature class T120, pressure class P1 (positive pressure system, suitable for condensing boilers) and corrosion class 1, which corresponds to the normal operating range of flue gases from condensing boilers (low-temperature flue gases, acidic condensates).

The Ø 110/160 mm system is installed exclusively from original Vaillant parts – individual components (extensions, elbows, inspection pieces, roof terminals and fixing elements) are combined together into an assembly exactly according to the layout of the specific boiler room or plant room. All joints are sealed with a silicone seal with a locking (bayonet) system, which guarantees gas tightness even with longer pipe lengths and allows for easy installation and dismantling without the need for gluing or welding.

Comparison with other diameters of Vaillant flue systems

Vaillant offers concentric flue systems in several diameters depending on boiler output – the smallest common diameter, Ø 60/100 mm, is used for most wall-mounted condensing boilers for houses and flats (ecoTEC pro/plus range up to approx. 35 – 65 kW), while the Ø 80/125 mm diameter is used for boilers with higher output or for longer runs where a lower pressure loss is required. The Ø 110/160 mm diameter, to which this part also belongs, is intended for the highest common output segment (ecoTEC plus 806/5-5 – 1206/5-5, ecoCRAFT exclusiv, ecoVIT exclusiv) and cascade assemblies, where a substantially larger volume of flue gases needs to be discharged. Parts of different diameters are not interchangeable with each other – it is therefore always necessary to verify the exact diameter of the system on your boiler or in the project documentation before ordering.

Compatibility

The Ø 160 mm clamps correspond to the outer diameter of the Ø 110/160 mm concentric system and are compatible with all parts of this range regardless of the specific boiler model – higher-output ecoTEC plus range, ecoCRAFT exclusiv, ecoVIT exclusiv, as well as cascade assemblies. For other flue system diameters (e.g. Ø 60/100 mm or Ø 80/125 mm), a corresponding smaller clamp size from the relevant accessory range must be used.

Typical usage scenarios

Clamps are always ordered together with extensions and elbows when installing a new run, so that correct and safe stabilisation of the pipework is ensured along its entire length from the outset. A typical boiler room with a run length of 4 – 6 m will need one to two packs of 5 pieces at the recommended spacing, depending on the number of direction changes and whether part of the run passes through masonry (where anchoring is provided by other elements, such as wall sleeves).

How many clamps to order and at what spacing

When planning the number of clamps, base your calculation on the total length of the run and the recommended anchoring spacing of approx. 1 – 1.5 m – for a run of, for example, 6 m, you will need approximately 4 – 6 pieces, i.e. one to two packs of 5 pcs. For runs with increased wind load (longer outdoor sections) or for vertical branches carrying greater weight, we recommend using the lower end of the specified spacing range.

Installation and use

Recommended procedure for installing fixing clamps:

  • the clamp is first anchored to the building structure (wall, ceiling, bracket) at the point where the pipe is to pass through,
  • the flue pipe is threaded through the open or dismountable clamp, and the clamp is then closed/tightened so that the pipe has slight free movement within it (to compensate for thermal expansion), while still being sufficiently stabilised against sagging,
  • on horizontal sections, a clamp spacing of approximately 1 – 1.5 m is generally recommended, while on vertical sections the spacing depends on the weight and length of the specific branch of the run,
  • it is not recommended to tighten the clamp excessively directly onto the pipe shell in a way that would prevent slight expansion movement due to temperature changes during boiler operation.

Safety warnings

Installation and connection of the flue gas discharge system of a condensing boiler must only be carried out by an authorised and trained installation company with professional competence in gas appliances. An incorrectly assembled or leaking flue gas run can lead to the leakage of flue gases (including carbon monoxide) into living spaces, which poses a serious health risk. Use only original Vaillant parts of the corresponding diameter and certification – combining with parts from other manufacturers or of other diameters is not permitted and is contrary to the CE certification conditions of the entire assembly as well as the boiler warranty. After any intervention in the run (part replacement, service, inspection), a tightness check must be carried out before putting the boiler back into operation.

Maintenance and care

We recommend checking the flue gas discharge system at least once a year during regular boiler servicing – in particular the tightness of the joints, the free flow of condensate drainage (if part of the assembly) and the mechanical fixing along the entire run. It is advisable to visually inspect the outdoor plastic parts (roof terminals, wall sleeves) after the winter season for possible mechanical damage caused by ice or wind. During normal operation, the inside of the pipes does not become clogged with deposits as classic solid-fuel chimneys do, but the inspection elements included in the assembly (inspection elbows, inspection pieces, T-pieces) are there precisely so that a service technician can easily look inside the pipe during an inspection and clean it if necessary without having to dismantle the entire run.

For boilers with a longer flue run, we recommend keeping a simple service record of the date of the last tightness check and the condition of the inspection openings – this will make it easier to plan further chimney sweep inspections and provide an overview in the event of a warranty claim or property sale.

Why buy this part at Atria.sk

We offer exclusively original Vaillant parts with 100% compatibility with flue systems of this brand – no universal replacements of dubious quality that could jeopardise the gas tightness of the entire assembly or void the boiler warranty. Goods are usually in stock or quickly available from the supplier, so the completion of a boiler room or a service intervention is not delayed due to one missing part. If you are unsure which exact part you need for your assembly, we will be happy to advise you by phone or e-mail – just provide the boiler model and the length of the flue run you need to cover.

We normally process orders within one business day and dispatch items in stock immediately. If you are not sure which exact part your project requires (for example, when combining several lengths and elbows into one run), we will be happy to help you choose the correct assembly before ordering – just send us a floor plan or a photo of the installation location and information about the boiler model.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many clamps do I need for a typical run in a boiler room?

At the recommended spacing of approx. 1 – 1.5 m, one pack of 5 pieces covers a typical section of the run in a plant room of approximately 5 – 7 m; for longer runs, an additional pack should be ordered.

Does the clamp need to be tightened firmly directly onto the pipe?

No, the clamp is meant to stabilise the pipe against sagging while still allowing slight movement caused by thermal expansion during operation – excessive tightening directly onto the pipe shell is not recommended.

Are the clamps suitable for vertical sections of the run as well?

Yes, the clamps are used on both horizontal and vertical sections of the run, although for vertical sections carrying greater weight it is also recommended to use a supporting elbow or bracket at the point of direction change.

Is the Ø 160 mm diameter universal for the entire range of Vaillant flue systems?

The Ø 160 mm clamp corresponds to the outer diameter of the Ø 110/160 mm system – for other system diameters (e.g. 60/100 or 80/125 mm), a corresponding smaller clamp size must be used.

Can the clamps also be used for fixing into plasterboard?

The clamp itself is universal, but the fixing material (anchors, screws) used in plasterboard must correspond to the weight of the supported pipe section – for larger spans, we recommend anchoring into the load-bearing structure or via a steel bracket instead.

Are the clamps included with the extension and elbow packs, or must they be purchased separately?

Fixing clamps are a separate item and are not included with extensions or elbows – when ordering a complete run, clamps must therefore be calculated separately based on the length and number of direction changes.

Can the clamp be used for a different pipe diameter after slight modification?

The clamp is manufactured to exactly match the outer diameter of Ø 160 mm of the 110/160 mm system and is not intended to be universally adapted to other diameters – separate corresponding clamp sizes exist for other diameters of the Vaillant system.

Does the clamp make any noise due to thermal expansion of the pipe?

With correctly set slight free movement of the pipe within the clamp (not too tightly fastened), excessive creaking should not occur; occasional quiet sounds during boiler start-up and shutdown caused by thermal expansion are a common phenomenon with plastic flue systems in general.

Are the clamps also suitable for fixing into a concrete ceiling?

Yes, when fixing into concrete, a suitable anchor corresponding to the weight of the supported pipe section should be used; the clamp itself is universal for various types of substrate.

Do clamps need to be used at points where the pipe passes through a wall or ceiling?

At the point of passage through a building structure, the stabilising function is taken over by the passage itself (sleeve, wall sleeve); clamps are used primarily on the free sections of the run between individual passages.

Can a damaged clamp be easily replaced without dismantling the pipe?

With the dismountable type of clamp, replacement is possible without having to dismantle the pipe itself – the clamp is opened, replaced and closed again around the existing pipe.

Are the clamps supplied in one size only, or are there adjustable variants as well?

Clamps for the Ø 160 mm diameter are manufactured to the exact outer dimension of this system; within this dimension they are generally slightly adjustable (tightening) to accommodate minor manufacturing tolerances of the pipe.

Is the colour or surface finish of the clamp important for outdoor use?

For outdoor use, we recommend metal clamps with an anti-corrosion surface finish (such as galvanising) so that they withstand weather conditions over the long term without corrosion of the fixing material.
