Detailed information

Product detailed description

Vaillant straight adapter for 75/62 mm connection - recoVAIR /4

The straight 75/62 mm adapter is a small yet functionally irreplaceable connecting part of the Vaillant recoVAIR /4 system, ensuring a tight and quick connection of the 75/62 mm flexible hose to the manifold outlet (12-outlet, low-profile or 17-outlet), or to an end element in the room - an anemostat, disc valve, or wall/ceiling outlet. While the main components of the ductwork (manifolds, ducting, roof transitions) define the airflow path, it is precisely these small adapters that, in practice, determine the resulting tightness and reliability of every single joint in the entire system.

The straight design of the adapter (as opposed to angled or reducing variants) is intended for situations where the hose needs to be connected in a straight direction without changing the diameter or angle - most commonly when connecting to a manifold outlet that already points exactly where the branch needs to be routed, or when connecting the straight end of a flexible hose to the straight inlet of an end element.

The role of the adapter in the overall ductwork

The ventilation ductwork of the recoVAIR /4 central unit consists of several types of components that must connect to each other precisely - round EPP ducting for the main route, manifolds, flexible hoses for the end branches, and finally the end elements in the rooms. It is precisely at the interface between the flexible hose and a fixed component (manifold or end element) that the need for a connecting adapter most often arises, ensuring:

  • precise, fully seated insertion of the hose without the possibility of slipping out during operation or when handling it in the ceiling void,
  • air tightness of the joint thanks to the sealing element integrated in the adapter,
  • easy disassembly of the joint in case of a future modification or replacement of the given branch, without the need to cut or damage the hose.

Installation - procedure and recommendations

  1. Check that the end of the flexible hose is cut straight and free of deformations that could prevent the adapter from being fitted correctly.
  2. Slide the adapter onto the end of the hose all the way to the stop, so that the joint is properly seated across the entire surface of the sealing element.
  3. Connect the other side of the adapter to the manifold outlet or to the inlet of the end element - depending on the type of joint (push-fit or snap-fit), follow the installation instructions of the given component so as not to damage the sealing element.
  4. After connecting, check that the joint cannot be freely rotated or pulled apart without significant force - a loose joint indicates incorrect fitting and should be corrected before the ceiling is covered.
  5. When installing a larger number of branches, we recommend checking the tightness of individual joints continuously, ideally with a short pressure test before the ductwork is finally covered.

Compatibility with the recoVAIR /4 system

The adapter is designed as part of the closed accessory system of Vaillant recoVAIR /4 central units and is intended for direct connection of:

  • a 75/62 mm flexible hose (sold separately, for example in a 40 m roll),
  • outlets of the low-profile as well as the classic (17-outlet) manifold of the same diameter,
  • end elements in the rooms (anemostats, disc valves, outlets) with an inlet of the same 75/62 mm diameter.

Do not use this adapter in combination with components of a different diameter or from a different manufacturer without verifying compatibility - a different joint profile may cause leakage or prevent the sealing element from seating correctly.

Why the quality of small connecting parts matters

When assessing the quality of a ventilation ductwork, attention is often focused primarily on the central unit and the main components (ducting, manifolds), while small connecting parts, such as this adapter, remain in the background. In practice, however, it is precisely the sum of all individual joints in the system that determines the overall air tightness of the ductwork - one leaking or incorrectly fitted adapter can cause air leakage, which manifests itself as reduced airflow in the given room, or as increased output (and thus increased noise) of the central unit's fan needed to compensate for the pressure loss at the leaking point. This is exactly why it does not pay off to save money on these seemingly insignificant small parts when implementing quality ductwork.

Practical ordering tips

  • In practice, adapters are consumed in a quantity corresponding to the number of joints in the given ductwork (typically two adapters per branch - one at the manifold, one at the end element), so when ordering we recommend allowing a reasonable reserve, for example also for the case of future modifications or extension of the ductwork.
  • We also recommend having a few extra pieces available directly on site during installation - a small part can easily be lost or temporarily rendered unusable through careless handling during the work.
  • When replacing a damaged adapter in an already installed ductwork, it is advisable to have a replacement piece of the same type at hand so that the repair can be carried out immediately without waiting for an additional order.

Maintenance and care

Once installed in the ductwork, the adapter is a maintenance-free component with no moving parts. We recommend:

  • whenever working in the ceiling void (electrical installation, lighting, etc.), checking whether any of the joints with this adapter have become loose or mechanically damaged,
  • if a ductwork leak is suspected (e.g. reduced airflow in a specific room), checking the joints with adapters first, as this is the most common place where minor leaks occur in the entire ductwork,
  • when replacing a damaged adapter, making sure to use an original part of the same diameter to maintain both the tightness and mechanical strength of the joint.

Why choose an original Vaillant part

Although this is a small and inexpensive component, its precise dimensions and the quality of the sealing element directly affect the reliability of the entire air ductwork. The original Vaillant adapter guarantees an exact match with the diameter and joint type of all connecting components of the recoVAIR /4 system (manifolds, hoses, end elements), thereby eliminating the risk of leaks that could arise with a non-original or imprecisely manufactured part. When implementing a complete ductwork, we recommend using only original adapters at all joints, as this is precisely where the difference between a cheaper universal replacement and a system-designed original part is most likely to show.

Frequently asked questions

How many adapters do I need per branch of the ductwork?

Typically, two adapters are used per branch of flexible hose - one on the side connected to the manifold and the other on the side of the end element in the room. However, the exact number depends on the specific wiring and the type of end elements used in the given project.

Is the adapter also suitable for connecting to a different pipe diameter?

This straight adapter is designed for the 75/62 mm diameter without any change of diameter. If a connection to a different diameter is needed, a separate reducing part designed specifically for this purpose must be used, not a straight adapter.

Can the adapter be disconnected again after fitting and reused?

Yes, the joint is designed to be detachable, allowing for a possible future modification of the ductwork (for example changing the length of a branch or replacing an end element) without having to buy a new adapter, provided the sealing element was not mechanically damaged during previous disassembly.

How do I know that the adapter is fitted correctly and tightly?

A correctly fitted adapter will not allow the hose to rotate freely or be pulled out without significant force. If the joint can be easily disconnected by hand, the adapter has probably not been pushed all the way to the stop, or the sealing element is damaged - in that case we recommend refitting the joint, or replacing the part with a new one.

Does the joint with the adapter need to be additionally glued or sealed?

No, the adapter is designed so that, once correctly fitted all the way to the stop, it ensures sufficient joint tightness without the need for additional gluing, sealing, or taping. Using glue would, on the contrary, prevent future disassembly of the joint in case of ductwork modification.

Straight versus angled adapter - when to use which type

In the recoVAIR /4 accessory range, besides the straight adapter, there are also angled or reducing variants of connecting parts, intended for different connection situations. The straight adapter described in this product should always be used when both sides of the joint - the manifold outlet and the end of the hose, or the end of the hose and the inlet of the end element - point along the same axis without any need to change direction or diameter. If the project requires a connection at an angle (for example due to space constraints at the inlet of the end element) or a change of pipe diameter, the appropriate angled or reducing part from the accessory range must be used instead of the straight adapter. Using the wrong type of adapter can lead to excessive stress on the joint or to it not being fully seated.

The adapter and the overall air tightness of the building

In modern low-energy and passive houses, verification of the overall air tightness of the building envelope using a so-called blower-door test is increasingly required. Although this test relates primarily to the building's outer shell (windows, doors, installation penetrations), it is also indirectly related to the quality of the internal ventilation ductwork - a leaking joint in the ventilation ductwork can distort the expected airflow between rooms and reduce the actual heat recovery efficiency achieved, even if the building envelope itself passes the test without issues. A properly fitted original adapter at every joint of the ductwork therefore contributes not only to the functionality of the ventilation itself, but also indirectly to the overall energy quality of the completed building.

Related components from the recoVAIR /4 range

In practice, the straight adapter is ordered together with the 75/62 mm flexible hose, with a low-profile or classic manifold (12-outlet or 17-outlet), and with plugs for sealing off unused outlets. When planning a complete installation, we recommend calculating in advance the exact number of adapters needed based on the number of branches and joints in the ventilation project, so that you have all the necessary small connecting materials available right at the start of installation and avoid delays caused by having to order individual pieces additionally during the ongoing installation.

Typical installation mistakes and how to avoid them

  • Insufficient insertion to the stop - the most common cause of later joint leakage; the adapter must always be inserted all the way to the visible or palpable stop, never just partially.
  • Fitting at an angle - if the adapter is fitted off the axis of the hose or outlet, the sealing element may not seat evenly around the entire circumference, creating a local leakage point.
  • Repeated disassembly without checking the sealing element - when a joint is disassembled and reassembled multiple times (for example during finishing works), we recommend always visually checking the condition of the sealing element before the ceiling is finally covered.
  • Using a damaged or contaminated part - sand, dust, or small construction debris on the sealing surface of the adapter can prevent the joint from seating perfectly; we recommend briefly checking the part and the end of the hose before installation and cleaning them if necessary.

Maintenance throughout the system's service life

Since this is a passive mechanical joint with no moving parts, the adapter does not require any active maintenance during normal operation. However, we recommend taking it into account as part of an inspection during any major intervention in the ventilation ductwork (for example when replacing or adding end elements, changing the routing of a branch, or when dealing with a complaint about reduced airflow in a specific room) - checking the individual joints with adapters is one of the first steps in diagnosing the cause of reduced ventilation performance in a given branch.

More frequently asked questions

Is the adapter sold as a single piece or in a package of several pieces?

The product is listed as an individual item with its own Vaillant order number - we recommend verifying the exact packaging quantity directly at the time of ordering, as for small connecting parts it may vary over time depending on the manufacturer's current packaging.

Is the adapter color-coded according to the direction of airflow (supply/exhaust)?

The adapter itself has no functional distinction based on the direction of airflow - it works in both directions. In practice, distinguishing between supply and exhaust circuits is handled at the level of branch or manifold labeling, not at the level of individual connecting adapters.
