The Vaillant VAZ CP/2 is a wired wall control panel without a CO&sub2; sensor for the recoVAIR VAR 60/2 D local ventilation system. The panel communicates with the units via cable (bus) and provides convenient, permanently installed control directly in the room – without the need to search for a portable remote control.

Functions and control

The control panel allows you to set all operating modes of the recoVAIR system: manual power level selection, automatic mode, monitoring mode, intensive ventilation, night ventilation with quieter operation, cross ventilation, and separate supply or exhaust air mode. Four ventilation intensity levels are available (night, 1, 2, 3) as well as humidity threshold setting. The illuminated touch display continuously shows the current mode, ventilation and humidity level, humidity threshold exceedance warning, and filter replacement notification.

This panel is intended for users who prefer a simpler and more affordable solution with manual or time/humidity-controlled operation without the need for automatic regulation based on CO&sub2;. The integrated humidity sensor still allows automatic power increase when room humidity rises (e.g. after showering or cooking). If you would like to switch to automatic CO&sub2;-based regulation in the future, consider the VAZ CPC/2 variant instead of this panel, which retains wired communication.

Installation and mounting

Installation of the recoVAIR VAR 60/2 unit consists of a core drill hole with a diameter of 162 mm through the perimeter wall, into which an installation tube is fitted (an insulated plastic tube available in a length of 500 mm, which can be shortened, or for thicker walls up to 1,000 mm, two tubes can be combined). On the exterior side, the opening is covered with a white outer cover with a noise silencer of type VAZ WD160, which also protects against rain and insects and reduces the transmission of external noise into the interior. The unit itself is inserted into the prepared installation tube from the inside and connected to the 230 V/50 Hz electrical grid.

Units of the D variant communicate with each other and with any control panel via cable, which is the most reliable solution where it is possible to run a low-voltage cable between the individual installation points during renovation or new construction (e.g. in a partition wall between two rooms or in a suspended ceiling). The wired version is resistant to interference from other wireless devices in the household and does not require batteries in the communication module.

The operating temperature of the unit is from −30 °C to +50 °C, so the recoVAIR VAR 60/2 reliably operates even during freezing winters in Slovakia as well as during summer heat. The IPX4 protection rating ensures resistance to splashing water from the facade side. Installation can be handled by an experienced heating technician, electrician or ventilation specialist in one day per room, without the need for a building permit (it is considered routine maintenance/modernization of the building envelope, however we recommend checking local regulations for heritage-protected facades).

Maintenance and filters

The recoVAIR VAR 60/2 unit uses two filters – one of ISO Coarse 45% class on the supply (outdoor) air side and one of ISO Coarse 30% class on the exhaust (indoor) air side. Depending on operating conditions (urban environment, pollen season, proximity to a busy road), filters should be checked and replaced approximately 2 to 4 times a year; the display of the control panel or remote control will notify you when replacement is needed. Filter replacement is a self-service operation that does not require a service intervention – the filter cartridge simply slides out and is replaced with a new one.

The ceramic heat storage exchanger is a maintenance-free component with no moving parts, which under normal operation requires no cleaning or replacement throughout the service life of the unit. We recommend having the fan checked every few years during a regular service inspection of the heating/ventilation system, although it is a component designed for long-term maintenance-free operation.
