The Vaillant VAZ CPC/2 is a wired wall control panel with an integrated CO&sub2; sensor and humidity sensor for the recoVAIR VAR 60/2 D system. It is the most advanced wired control solution in the VAZ range – combining a solid, reliable wired connection with automatic control based on the actual air quality in the room.

Functions and control

The control panel allows you to set all operating modes of the recoVAIR system: manual selection of the power level, automatic mode, monitoring mode, intensive ventilation, night ventilation with quieter operation, cross ventilation and separate supply or exhaust air mode. Four ventilation intensity levels are available (night, 1, 2, 3) as well as humidity threshold setting. The backlit touch display continuously shows the current mode, ventilation and humidity level, a warning when the humidity threshold is exceeded, and information about the need to replace the filter.

The concentration of carbon dioxide in the air is one of the most reliable indicators of indoor air quality and how "stale" it has become. While relative humidity mainly indicates the risk of condensation and mould, CO&sub2; is directly linked to fatigue, decreased concentration and a subjective feeling of "stuffiness" in a room, especially in bedrooms during sleep or in studies and children's rooms. The integrated CO&sub2; sensor in this panel allows the recoVAIR system to automatically increase ventilation intensity when the CO&sub2; concentration exceeds the set threshold, and reduce it back to a more economical mode once the air is fresh again – instead of you having to estimate or manually set the ventilation intensity by feel.

Installation and mounting

Installation of the recoVAIR VAR 60/2 unit consists of a core drill hole with a diameter of 162 mm through the perimeter wall, into which an installation tube is fitted (an insulated plastic tube available in a length of 500 mm, which can be shortened, or for thicker walls up to 1,000 mm two tubes can be combined). On the exterior side, the opening is covered with a white outdoor cover with a noise silencer type VAZ WD160, which also protects against rain and insects entering and reduces the transmission of outdoor noise into the interior. The unit itself is inserted into the prepared installation tube from the inside and connected to the 230 V/50 Hz electrical mains.

Units of the D variant communicate with each other and with any control panel via cable, which is the most reliable solution wherever it is possible, during renovation or new construction, to run a low-voltage cable between the individual installation points (e.g. in a partition wall between two rooms or in a suspended ceiling). The wired design is resistant to interference from other wireless devices in the household and does not require batteries in the communication module.

The unit's operating temperature ranges from −30 °C to +50 °C, so the recoVAIR VAR 60/2 works reliably even during freezing Slovak winters as well as summer heat waves. The IPX4 protection rating ensures resistance to splashing water from the façade side. Installation can be completed by an experienced heating engineer, electrician or ventilation technician within one day per room, without the need for a building permit (it is considered routine maintenance/modernisation of the building envelope, though we recommend checking local regulations for heritage-protected façades).

Maintenance and filters

The recoVAIR VAR 60/2 unit uses two filters – one of ISO Coarse 45% class on the supply (outdoor) air side, and one of ISO Coarse 30% class on the exhaust (indoor) air side. Depending on operating conditions (urban environment, pollen season, proximity to a busy road), the filters should be checked and replaced approximately 2 to 4 times a year; the display on the control panel or remote control will alert you when replacement is needed. Filter replacement is a maintenance-free operation requiring no service intervention – the filter cartridge is simply pulled out and replaced with a new one.

The ceramic heat storage exchanger is a maintenance-free component with no moving parts, which does not require cleaning or replacement during normal operation throughout the unit's service life. We recommend having the fan checked once every few years during a regular service inspection of the heating/ventilation system, although it is a component designed for long-term maintenance-free operation.
