Electric underfloor heating, electric mats – additional information

HAKL heating mats are designed to be as thin as possible and take up the smallest possible height in the floor construction. You can lay the heating mat both on a new floor and, during a renovation, onto existing tiles. There is practically no increase in floor height, since the height of the heating mat is absorbed into the layer of adhesive used to glue the new tiles.

Two versions of heating mats are available: HAKL TF 150 and HAKL TP 140. The HAKL TF 150 heating mats are designed to be glued onto the base concrete or onto thermal insulation. The HAKL TP 140 heating mats are suitable for installation under floating laminate flooring. Thanks to their construction they can be laid loose, without the need to embed them in adhesive.

Main underfloor heating

Electric underfloor heating is currently one of the most popular heating systems. HAKL underfloor heating can be laid under almost all types of flooring, including floating floors, carpets, marble, linoleum, .... Underfloor heating is completely hidden in the floor and therefore doesn't interfere with interior design solutions. The floor's construction remains practically unchanged when using HAKL heating cables, meaning that in 99% of cases nothing extra or different needs to be done in the floor build-up. The heating cables are embedded in a layer of concrete or anhydrite. These materials give underfloor heating its accumulation properties, and it's also thanks to them that HAKL underfloor heating is so economical.

Dry installation

Dry installation completely eliminates the wet process. The panels are made of 9 mm recycled plastic with grooves for laying the heating cable. The panels can be laid directly onto a rough floor, and thanks to a locking system they can easily be joined together (like puzzle pieces). The heating cable is then placed into the grooves, followed by impact insulation and finally the laminate or wood flooring itself. Construction time can be shortened by 60-70%. This dry build-up is especially suitable for timber-frame buildings, weight-sensitive floor structures, or renovations. When laying underfloor heating beneath a wood floor, make sure the ratio of the thermal insulation thickness under the underfloor heating to the thickness of the wood floor covering is at least 5:1
