• How do I choose the correct output (head) for a circulating pump? The head (delivery height, given in metres) must cover the pressure losses of your specific heating circuit - these depend on the pipe length, the number of radiators/circuits and the resistance of the fittings. For an average family house, a pump with a head of up to 6 m is usually sufficient; for larger or multi-zone systems a higher head (8 m or more) is chosen - if in doubt, consult a heating technician who can size the flow rate and head precisely for you.
• What does the connection size (e.g. 6/4") on a pump mean? This is the threaded connection of the pump to the pipe - it must match the pipe diameter in your system, or a reducer can be used. This value must not be confused with the DN suction/discharge size, which indicates the bore of the pump port itself.
• What is the difference between a single-speed and a multi-speed/electronic pump?
