IVAR-FM and FMP gas filters are flanged devices designed for the mechanical cleaning of natural gas and LPG before it enters pressure regulators, gas meters or other sensitive pipework components. They capture mechanical impurities (dust, rust, pipe scale) which could otherwise damage or cause leaks in downstream fittings.
The filters are supplied in PN 6 version, in sizes from DN 25 to DN 100, with a filter element of 10 µm or 50 µm fineness depending on the required level of pipework protection. The flanged connection allows the filter to be easily incorporated directly into the pipe run during the professional installation of gas regulating stations and connections.
The choice of filtration fineness depends on the downstream equipment - finer 10 µm filtration is chosen ahead of more sensitive regulators and meters, while coarser 50 µm filtration is sufficient for general protection of the pipework against larger impurities.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between 10 µm and 50 µm filtration? The 10 µm filter captures finer particles and is used ahead of sensitive regulators and meters, while the 50 µm filter provides general protection of the pipework against coarser mechanical impurities.
- What sizes are the filters supplied in? The IVAR-FM and FMP flanged filters cover the range DN 25 to DN 100 at PN 6, with the size chosen according to the pipe bore and required flow rate.
- Where is the filter usually installed in the pipework? The filter is fitted upstream of a pressure regulator, gas meter or other sensitive fitting, so that it captures mechanical impurities before they reach equipment with precise moving parts.
