The importance of water filtration is often underestimated and neglected. It concerns not only drinking water, but also water in heating or solar systems. We usually only realise its importance once a device that uses water breaks down, and we start searching for the cause of the failure. Water contains a range of undesirable substances, such as particles of rust or iron. These clog up pipes and cause heating equipment to stop working properly. One way to prevent this is to install a magnetic dirt separator.

Dirt separator versus common filters
A dirt separator separates impurities that usually circulate in systems with closed circuits. Its advantages are a low cleaning frequency, low pressure loss and consistently sustainable performance. Unlike ordinary filters, which become clogged by the impurities they capture, its performance stays constant over time.

The role of the magnetic filter
The dirt separator with a magnet from Aras is used to remove impurities in radiators, underfloor heating pipes and boilers. The magnet placed inside the separator captures impurities in the heating water flowing through the filter. This helps prevent pumps and valves from seizing up, as well as failures in gas and electric boilers or their heat exchangers.

The body of the Aras magnetic filter is made of high-quality polyamide. The durability of this composite material and the filter's properties mean the dirt separator can be placed anywhere in the system. Thanks to the filter's design, functions and compact size, it can also be used for solar systems.
The Aras magnetic filter can be used in a wide range of applications. This is helped by the fact that it can handle water flowing at up to ninety degrees Celsius. The filter's maximum output is 20 to 24 kW and its maximum operating pressure is around three bar.
Besides the filter, the package also includes a three-quarter-inch ball valve for shutting off the water circulation, a swivel connection allowing the filter to be easily connected to a boiler with a G3/4" thread, and a wrench for opening the top part of the filter.

How the Aras 3/4" magnetic filter works
The principle of the three-quarter-inch Aras magnetic filter is based on a magnet that attracts all ferrous impurities inside the cylinder. The strong neodymium magnet, placed in the centre of the filter, is easy to remove, allowing fast and effective cleaning. At the same time, it attracts particles of iron and other metallic impurities, and in this way also captures contaminated microparticles within the system.
For proper operation, we recommend cleaning the Aras magnetic filter at least once a year. Simply close the valves at the inlet and outlet - i.e. before and after the magnet - open the drain plug, unscrew the top part of the filter, and remove and thoroughly clean the magnet released in this way.
The Aras magnetic filter can also capture non-magnetic particles present in the water. It fixes these on a stainless steel filter mesh, ensuring the system is thoroughly cleaned.

Just as consuming contaminated or defective water is responsible for a range of health problems for its users, water in heating systems also has a harmful effect on their proper functioning and service life.
