Pipe filters

Pipe filters are installed directly into the run of a water or heating pipe and capture mechanical impurities (sand, rust, scale) before they reach sensitive components - fittings, pumps or heat exchangers. The suitable filter type and size is chosen according to the pipe diameter and the expected level of contamination of the incoming water.

Frequently asked questions

  • Where is a pipe filter installed? Directly into the pipe run, usually before the sensitive device (pump, boiler, fitting) that needs to be protected from mechanical impurities.
  • How often does the filter need to be cleaned or replaced? The interval depends on the quality of the incoming water, typically a few months; earlier servicing is needed if flow decreases.
  • What is the difference compared to a cyclone filter? A pipe filter usually captures impurities on a mesh cartridge, while a cyclone filter uses a centrifugal principle and a desludging chamber.
