A brass threaded T-piece - splits one pipe branch into two, or conversely joins two branches into one. Brass is a well-proven, standard material for threaded water and heating pipework thanks to its corrosion resistance and reliable seal when the joint is tightened correctly.

• How do I choose the right fitting size? The thread size (e.g. 1/2", 3/4", 1") must exactly match the thread size on the pipe or fitting you are connecting to - designations such as FF (female-female), MF (male-female) and similar abbreviations in the name indicate the type of thread on each side of the fitting.
• What do the abbreviations FF and MF in the name mean? F (female thread) and M (male thread) indicate the type of thread on the given side of the fitting - for example "FF" means a female thread on both sides, "MF" a male thread on one side and a female thread on the other.
• Is a sealing material needed during installation? Yes, a sealing material (e.g. PTFE tape or hemp fibre with sealing paste) is normally used on threaded joints to ensure a perfect seal - the thread alone without sealant will not reliably seal.
