Flow-through system with Siliphos H5A
Code: SILIPHOSOM H5AProduct detailed description
Flow-through units with Siliphos H5A are used to treat drinking water. Siliphos prevents the formation of limescale and rust, which increase the energy consumption needed to heat water. The end result of using Siliphos is a significant reduction in energy costs.
The H5 housing comes together with a cartridge and 300 g of Siliphos in a cardboard box.
Basic characteristics:
The flow-through unit with Siliphos is a universal and economical solution that prevents limescale build-up and corrosionin drinking water distribution systems and prevents limescale formation in hot water preparation equipment, as well as at every point where water is heated in flats and houses.
The flow-through unit with Siliphos is also successfully used in hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, fitness centres, shopping centres, apartment buildings, and food-processing and other manufacturing plants. Siliphos is useful wherever water is hard, or very soft.
Technical solution proposal for Siliphos:
Flow-through units with Siliphos can be installed on any water system and need no electricity. Installation and refilling are extremely simple.
Siliphos is a special product, manufactured in Germany and used for more than 35 years throughout Europe. It is approved by the health authorities in all EU countries for use with drinking water.
Using Siliphos is not softening – the water stays just as hard, and therefore just as healthy. Hard water is healthier than soft water. Compared with softening, Siliphos is cheaper both to buy and to run.
Siliphos performs three functions:
- It forms a microfilm on the metal surfaces of pipework, heating elements and coils, on nozzles, measuring and control components, taps and sanitary fittings, which completely prevents the formation of limescale and rust.
- It prevents dissolved calcium and magnesium in the water from settling on metal and ceramic surfaces as limescale.
- It gradually removes old limescale and rust deposits from metal surfaces.
The purchase cost pays for itself very quickly, because it prevents the formation of limescale or rust deposits. Limescale and rust primarily worsen heat-transfer performance, so heating the same amount of hot water uses 30–40% more energy than when no limescale or rust forms. The service life of energy equipment is extended. Further savings come from reduced use of cleaning agents on taps and ceramic tiles.
A flow-through system on the main drinking-water supply treats all appliances (water pipework, taps, instantaneous water heaters, washing machines, dishwashers, kettles, irons, bathroom tiles, baths, toilets, etc.).
The size of the flow-through unit depends on water consumption. Since peak consumption accounts for around 66% of daily use and lasts a maximum of 2 hours, the flow-through unit must be sized so that there is no shortage of water during peak demand. Maximum working pressure is 10 bar. Pressure loss will be minimal.
For a small flat in an apartment building (maximum flow 200 l/hour), the H5A type flow-through unit is suitable. It is a 5" tall transparent plastic housing with a transparent cartridge containing 300 g of Siliphos. The Siliphos cartridge is sold separately. The unit treats 120–150 m3 of water.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I check that this part fits my HEPWORTH pipe? Compare the size (pipe diameter in mm or thread in inches) given in the product name with the diameter of your pipe - the HEPWORTH system uses its own precisely defined size range.
- Must installation be carried out by a professional? Clips, anchors and wall plates are standard mounting accessories suitable for DIY installation; we recommend having the connection of the pipework into a working heating or water system checked by a professional.
