Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between a circulation pump and a heating (circulator) pump? A DHW circulation pump keeps domestic hot water constantly circulating in the pipework between the tank/boiler and the outlets, so hot water is available almost instantly when you open a tap, without waiting. A heating (circulator) pump, on the other hand, drives the heating water in the heating circuit (radiators, underfloor heating).
- Is a circulation pump worth it in terms of water and energy consumption? It saves time and the water that would otherwise be drained away while waiting for hot water, but on the other hand it increases electricity consumption (the pump) and heat losses in the pipework (since water keeps circulating in it) - it is therefore advisable to add a timer switch that runs the pump only when actually needed (e.g. morning and evening).
- Must the installation be carried out by a professional? We recommend leaving the connection to the electrical supply and to the DHW pipework to a plumber/electrician.
