• What tools do I need to install this fitting? Press fittings require specialized press jaws with the correct jaw type (commonly labelled B, F, or TH depending on the system) matching the size and type of the fitting - without the correct tool the joint cannot be made or checked.
• How do I know the joint has been pressed correctly? Quality press fittings have a press indicator (e.g. a sealing O-ring that leaks if the crimp is incomplete) - before embedding the pipe in a wall or screed, a pressure test of the whole system must always be carried out.
• Can a pressed joint be taken apart afterwards? No, unlike a screwed (compression) connection, a pressed joint is permanent and removing it requires cutting out the fitting and replacing it with a new one.
• Does the installation have to be done by a professional? Yes, pressing fittings requires professional skill and correctly calibrated tools - we recommend entrusting the work to a heating engineer/plumber, especially for joints that will be embedded in a wall or screed with no possibility of later inspection.
