IVAR.PE-Xa pipe, size 17 x 2 mm, pack 600 m.

Single-layer pipe made of cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) with an internal oxygen barrier - this prevents atmospheric oxygen from diffusing through the pipe wall into the heating water, thereby protecting the metal parts of the system (boiler, pump, radiators) from corrosion caused by dissolved oxygen.

• Why doesn't this pipe have an aluminium layer like PEX-AL-PEX? This is a simpler and generally more affordable design intended directly for underfloor heating pipework, where the pipe is laid into a system panel that holds its shape - so an aluminium layer to retain shape, needed for example with freely routed pipe, is not required.
• Is it worth ordering the large 600 m pack straight away? For larger installations (multiple underfloor heating circuits, more extensive pipework) yes - a large pack reduces the cost per metre and limits the number of joints along the run. For a smaller metreage requirement it is more economical to choose a smaller pack (120 m or 240 m) so you are not left with an unused remainder.
• What fittings are used to connect 17 x 2 mm pipe to the manifold? IVAR.TP or RP compression fittings (a screw joint that needs no pressing tool) or IVAR.AC press fittings (requires pressing tongs) are used - both systems must match the 17 x 2 mm size.
• Must installation be carried out by a professional? Laying the pipe into the system panel can be done by a competent DIY user, but we recommend having the connection to the manifold and the pressure test before the screed is poured checked by a professional.
