• What tools do I need to install this fitting? Press fittings require a specialised crimping tool with the correct jaw type (commonly labelled B, F, or TH depending on the system) matching the size and type of the fitting - without the right tool the joint cannot be made or checked.
• How do I know the joint has been pressed correctly? Good quality press fittings have a press indicator (e.g. a sealing O-ring that leaks if the crimp is incomplete) - a pressure test of the whole system should always be carried out before it is embedded in a wall or screed.
• Can the joint be taken apart after pressing? No, unlike a screwed (compression) fitting, a pressed joint is permanent and taking it apart means cutting out the fitting and replacing it with a new one.
• Does the installation have to be done by a professional?
