ELIZ EURO D1 and D2 tanks are adapted for direct cooperation with an air-to-water heat pump - they have a larger heat exchange surface, which compensates for the lower output temperature of a heat pump compared to a gas boiler. D2 models with two coils additionally allow bivalent operation with a second heat source as a backup at low outdoor temperatures.

When choosing the volume (200, 300 or 500 litres), we recommend basing the decision on the output of the heat pump and the number of outlets in the household.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why does a heat pump need a different tank than a boiler? A heat pump heats water to a lower temperature than a boiler, so the tank needs a larger heat exchange surface to achieve a comparable heating output.
  • What does bivalent operation mean for the D2 model? It's a combination of two heat sources - the heat pump covers normal operation and the second source (e.g. a boiler) tops up water heating at times of higher demand or low temperatures.
