Frequently asked questions
- What tools do I need to install this fitting? Press fittings require specialized pressing pliers with the correct jaw type (commonly marked B, F, or TH depending on the system) matching the size and type of fitting - without the correct tool the joint cannot be made or checked.
- How do I know the joint has been pressed correctly? Quality press fittings have a press indicator (e.g. a sealing O-ring that leaks if pressing is not completed) - before embedding in a wall or screed, a pressure test of the entire system must always be carried out.
- Can the joint be taken apart after pressing? No, unlike a screwed (compression) connection, a pressed joint is permanent and taking it apart requires cutting off the fitting and replacing it with a new one.
- Must the installation be carried out by a professional? Yes, pressing fittings requires professional skill and correctly calibrated tools - we recommend leaving it to a heating engineer/plumber, especially for joints that will be embedded in a wall or screed with no possibility of later inspection.
