• What tools do I need to install this fitting? Press fittings require specialized crimping pliers with the correct type of jaw (commonly labeled B, F, or TH depending on the system) matching the size and type of the fitting - without the proper tool, the joint cannot be made or checked.
• How do I know the joint has been crimped correctly? Quality press fittings have a crimping indicator (e.g. a sealing O-ring that leaks if crimping is incomplete) - a pressure test of the entire system must always be performed before the joint is embedded in a wall or screed.
• Can the joint be disassembled after crimping? No, unlike a screwed (compression) fitting, a pressed joint is permanent and disassembly requires cutting off the fitting and replacing it with a new one.
• Must installation be carried out by a professional? Yes, crimping fittings requires professional skill and properly calibrated tools - we recommend entrusting this to a heating engineer/plumber, especially for joints that will be embedded in a wall or screed without the possibility of later inspection.
