• What tools do I need to install this fitting? Press fittings require specialized crimping pliers with the correct jaw type (commonly marked B, F, or TH depending on the system) matching the size and type of the fitting - without the right tool the joint cannot be made or checked.
• How do I know the joint has been crimped correctly? Quality press fittings have a crimp indicator (e.g. a sealing O-ring that leaks if crimping is incomplete) - before embedding in a wall or screed, a pressure test of the whole system should always be carried out.
• Can the joint be taken apart after crimping? No, unlike a screwed (compression) fitting, a press joint is permanent and removing it requires cutting out the fitting and replacing it with a new one.
• Must the installation be carried out by a professional?
