• What tools do I need to install this fitting? Press fittings require specialised crimping pliers with the correct jaw type (usually marked B, F, or TH depending on the system) matching the size and type of the fitting - without the correct tool the joint cannot be made or checked.
• How do I know the joint has been pressed correctly? Quality press fittings have a press indicator (e.g. a sealing O-ring that leaks if the crimp is incomplete) - a pressure test of the whole system should always be carried out before the joint is embedded in a wall or screed.
• Can the joint be taken apart after pressing? No, unlike a screwed (compression) connection, a pressed joint is permanent and can only be undone by cutting out the fitting and replacing it with a new one.
